Terms and Conditions for AniTrail

Welcome to AniTrail. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the AniTrail mobile application (the “App”), developed and published by CX Ultra. By downloading, accessing, or using AniTrail, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
AniTrail is a mobile application designed to help users track, manage, and discover anime series, movies, and characters. The App allows users to create custom tracking lists, view schedules, and back up their data securely using external cloud services.
2. Third-Party Services and Data
AniTrail integrates with and relies upon several third-party services to function. By using AniTrail, you also acknowledge and agree to the terms of these respective services:
- Tenrai & Jikan APIs (MyAnimeList data): AniTrail acts as an unofficial client and fetches metadata, imagery, and broadcast schedules through the Tenrai and Jikan REST APIs, which parse data from MyAnimeList (MAL).
- AniTrail is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by MyAnimeList, Jikan, or Tenrai.
- We do not claim ownership over the anime metadata, synopses, or promotional images displayed in the App; they belong to their respective copyright holders.
- We cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or uptime of the data provided by these APIs.
- Google Drive API: AniTrail utilizes the Google Drive API to provide cloud backup and synchronization of your personal tracking data.
- AniTrail only requests access to the specific application data folder it creates within your Google Drive. It does not read, modify, or access your other personal files.
- Your use of this sync feature is subject to Google’s Terms of Service.
- Google AdMob: Non-premium users are served third-party ads managed by Google AdMob. Your interaction with ads is subject to Google’s Ad policies.
- RevenueCat: We utilize RevenueCat to securely manage in-app subscriptions and validate purchases.
- Sentry: We utilize Sentry to capture anonymized crash logs, app stability metrics, and runtime diagnostics to monitor performance and debug software errors.
3. Content Moderation and Age Restrictions
AniTrail is intended for a general audience. Because our anime catalog is sourced dynamically from third-party services—specifically the Jikan API and Tenrai API (as a fallback), which parse data from MyAnimeList (MAL)—it may occasionally contain metadata, synopses, or promotional imagery intended for mature audiences.
To ensure compliance with app store policies and provide a safe experience, AniTrail employs an automated “Content Sanitizer” throughout the entire application. This system is designed to proactively filter out explicitly mature, adult, or NSFW content from being displayed, searched, or recommended. However, because this filtering mechanism relies heavily on the accuracy of third-party tags and metadata from MAL, we cannot guarantee it is 100% accurate or exhaustive. CX Ultra assumes no liability for mature content that inadvertently bypasses these automated filters. Users are advised to use discretion when browsing the catalog.
4. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
AniTrail offers an optional premium subscription (“AniTrail Premium”) that unlocks additional features such as unlimited custom lists, advanced theming, and unrestricted cloud backups.
- Billing and Renewals: Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (e.g., monthly) and automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Free Trials: If a subscription begins with a free trial period, you will automatically be charged the subscription price at the end of the trial unless canceled beforehand.
- Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely by the Google Play Store. We do not store or process your credit card information.
- Cancellations and Refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play account settings. Refunds are handled exclusively by the Google Play Store according to their standard refund policies. CX Ultra cannot issue direct refunds. Upon subscription cancellation, premium feature access will be restricted at the end of the current billing cycle. Any custom tracking data created exceeding the free tier limits will remain preserved in a read-only state.
5. User Conduct and Responsibilities
By using AniTrail, you agree not to:
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App’s services, servers, or underlying APIs (such as executing denial-of-service attacks or automated scraping scripts).
- Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or exploit any portion of the App without express written permission from CX Ultra.
6. Intellectual Property
The AniTrail application, including its original source code, UI/UX design, custom graphics (such as the “Marjory” mascot), and logo, are the exclusive property of CX Ultra. All third-party anime artwork, logos, and synopsis texts are the intellectual property of their respective creators and distributors and are used solely for informational and cataloging purposes under fair use principles.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CX Ultra shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the App.
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the App.
- Errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in the data provided by third-party APIs.
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your local data or Google Drive backups.
AniTrail is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind.
8. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this document or by presenting a notification within the App. Your continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
